Talk:Hell
From Atheism
We have an article on Liberal Christianity. We write less about believers who aren't fundies because we don't fight them. They do little harm. As I see it the biggest risk from being liberal believers is they can wander into a fundy Church, Mosque, Synagogue or Temple to worship God or the gods. Then they can get brainwashed by the fundies there. Where do you get your evidence that they are less than 1%. In rural parts of the United States Bible Belt fundies seem to be the majority. Certainly they are strong enough to impose their system onto the rest. Where did you get your statistics that only 1% of believers are fundamentalists? Please show me the source. Even in liberal countries like Britain I suspect far more than 1% of Christians are fundamentalists and a higher proportion of Moslems are. Proxima Centauri 08:10, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
You cannot be certain. They only seem to be the majority, but most rural Americans are regular Christians. I can see that Bible Belt is now a pejorative term used to bash Americans who don't live in some urban ghetto that go to church and those who tell you that they beleive in Jesus.
Oh, and "Hell", by the most realistic standards, is regarded as a place of separation from God (the torture and all else bad is internal). That's what the Catholics preach (also Presbyterians).
So we're just sepreated form god? That doesn't sound too bad. Actually, rural fundies have hardly imposed their system on us. You just say that because you are slightly ignorant to the rest. Most people I know cant stand them.
- Could you guys sign and indent your comments? It's difficult to guess who is saying what to whom otherwise. Thanks.R Fitzroy 13:21, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Anyway, I've clarified the Catholic concept of hell in the article. Or at least made it as clear as it seems to be at the Vatican website.R Fitzroy 13:38, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
