A Prophet is a man who has a special relationship with a divine being. A woman with a similar relationship is called a prophetess. A prophet/prophetess speaks for the divinity who inspires him/her, prophets usually predict the future and often perform miracles in the opinion of believers.
- When modern people claim prophetic relationships the general public is rightly skeptical and demands evidence for any special powers.
- Sadly when supposed prophetic power is based on Mythology of the Bronze Age and the Iron Age this type of faith is too often accepted by otherwise sensible people.
What a prophet/prophetess predicts is a prophecy.
