Messiah

The Messiah is a term in Judaism and Christianity though the two religions have different concepts about this.

Christianity

Christians claim that Jesus was the Messiah, the son of God, born to redeem the world from Hell and bring sinners to heaven. Most Christians see Jesus as one part of the Trinity.

Judaism

Jews focus on the messiah as a human being who has not yet come and who will achieve things in this world. According to Judaism the true Messiah must

*Be an observant Jewish man descended from the house of King David

• Be an ordinary human being (as opposed to the Son of God)
• Bring peace to the world
• Gather all Jews back into Israel
• Rebuild the ancient Temple in Jerusalem
• Unite humanity in the worship of God and Torah observance

Furthermore, Jews believe that God gave a complete and everlasting covenant to his followers in the form of the Tanakh while Christians claim that Jesus brought a new covenant. The two views are incompatible.
